Frequently we get clients who seek out Tay River for proper trim restoration. In the case of these dormers, the advanced rot forced us to choose replication and replacement over restoration since not a single trim element was salvageable. Even the rigging was a challenge owing to the narrow alleyway between the house and its neighbor. We use cypress wood exclusively in all necessary exterior applications to ensure the long-term survival of the installation. It would have been easy to simplify trim profiles to eliminate the complexity of the job. Instead, great care was taken in hand-milling all trim replications to ensure an adherence to the dormer’s original form.
