The owner of this apartment is an artist. He drew the pencil rendering, and Abel translated it into something buildable. Compare the drawing and the final photo in the first two pictures.
The building is a pencil factory converted to apartments, and the owner wanted an industrial look to match. Hints of the old use show in the massive wood columns, worn at the base from years of manufacturing. Stained plywood was the obvious choice for a semi-industrial feel. The face frame has a subtle dado, a slightly recessed center that runs seamlessly from horizontal to vertical.
